Charles A. Sims, MD
Co-Founder and Medical Director
Dr. Charles A. Sims, Co-Founder and Medical Director of California Cryobank, is a board certified pathologist with over 40 years of experience in laboratory operations, donor assessment, and frozen reproductive tissue banking. Dr. Sims earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University and is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology. His extensive experience includes serving as Chief of Pathology at Century City Hospital, operating a large national referral laboratory, and founding Quantum Clinical Laboratories, Inc.
Cappy M. Rothman, MD
Co-Founder and Medical Director
Dr. Cappy Rothman, Co-Founder and Medical Director of California Cryobank, is a board certified urologist. As a nationally recognized expert on male fertility and human sperm banking, he has made dozens of media appearances including Oprah, Phil Donahue, The Doctors, ABC Nightline, and 60 Minutes. Dr. Rothman earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, followed by residencies at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance and the University of California, San Francisco, and Loma Linda University. Dr. Rothman is the founder of The Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and has served on staff at Century City Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and as a clinical instructor at UCLA.
Jaime M. Shamonki, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Jaime Shamonki is Medical Director of California Cryobank. Prior to joining California Cryobank, Dr. Shamonki spent seven years as Section Head of Breast Pathology and Medical Director of the Blood Bank at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Shamonki was educated at top medical institutions including The University of Vermont, New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical College and UCLA. An Assistant Professor at the John Wayne Cancer Institute, she contributes to ongoing research studies in the fields of oncology and immunology.
Pamela Richardson is the COO/President of CCB’s Reproductive Tissue Services Division, overseeing both the sperm and egg donor programs. Prior to joining CCB, she worked as a global strategic consultant for McKinsey & Company, as well as the Vice President of Corporate Alliances at Disney.
Pamela earned her BS from the University of Virginia and her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Vice President, Operations
Kaj Rydman maintains CCB’s high technical standards for the cryogenic storage department, as well as overseeing branch operations. He has held multiple positions in the company over the past 20 years, including serving as the President of the Stem Cell Division and launching CCB’s sister company, FamilyCord.
A father of two busy young girls, Kaj divides his time between traveling around the country for CCB and running to gymnastic meets, piano recitals, and concerts.
Executive Vice President, Egg Donor Program
Heidi Hayes received her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Michigan and her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Texas. She served as an animal husbandry specialist in the United States Peace Corps in Ecuador. After returning stateside, she began her career as the Director of Development and Marketing for a national not-for-profit. She diversified her knowledge level by accepting Executive positions in both small and large healthcare operations. Heidi has more than 25 years of healthcare experience, having worked as an Executive in the fields of pain management, physical therapy, dialysis and reproductive endocrinology.
She serves on the board of CapEX MD, a financing company and Tinina Q. Cade Foundation, a national not-for-profit which provides financial support and education to individuals with infertility. In 2010, Heidi left her position as Executive Director of Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Science Center and IntegraMed America to launch Donor Egg Bank USA with Michael Levy, MD. Donor Egg Bank USA was the first egg bank to ship vitrified eggs from program to program successfully in the United States and boasts more than 120 partners over two continents.
As a result of Donor Egg Bank USA's successful sale to California Cryobank, Heidi was featured in the March 2017 issue of Inc. Magazine for having harnessed new technology in the creation of a successful start up. She continues to run the Egg Bank Division of California Cryobank and not only knows the business of assisted reproductive therapies, she has personally experienced it. Heidi and her husband are the parents of three children and have built their family through adoption and donor egg treatment.
